The Australian School Band and Orchestra Festival is one of the largest school band festivals in the country. It is non-competitive, with schools (instead of receiving 1st, 2nd, etc.) receiving Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards based on their ability in their section. This event will be held at Clancy Auditorium, UNSW, Kensington.

Hornsby North Public School has been hosting the Hornsby North Band Festival for more than 10 years, and it continues to be an incredibly popular band festival. Bands receive adjudication from two respected band professionals and are graded as either Highly Commended, Credit, Distinction, or High Distinction. A band from each section will be recognized with an award, and a school or band that demonstrated particular excellence over the course of the day will be presented with the Capaldo Award.
